Tungsten Ring Inlaid with Iron-Nickel from the Gibeon and Muonionalusta Meteorites mixed with Chrysocolla

Top Meteorite

  • $ 145.00

Bright iron-nickel meteorite dust from the core of a massive asteroid is inlaid with stunning green chrysocolla in an eternally pure tungsten band.

This beautiful ring is made with a band of pure elemental tungsten. The hand-set inlay is a mix of iron-nickel meteorite shavings from the Muonionalusta and Gibeon meteorites, and chrysocolla.

A unique gift from beyond this world. Meteorites are older and rarer than diamonds. They tell the story of our common origins, cosmological time, and explorations yet to come.

*Band is 10 mm wide | Inlay is 6 mm wide

Choose from half sizes: 5 through 13.

We highly recommend double checking your ring size before placing an order.

Tungsten is not only a beautiful and ultra strong metal, it’s s also one of the fundamental elements. Represented with a W and number 74 on the periodic table, its a very hard transition metal with an extremely high melting point, 6,191°F (3,422°C), the highest of any metal.

The library of congress has this to say about Tungsten: "Tungsten gets its W symbol from its German name Wolfram. Wolfram comes from wolframite, which was one of the ores in which tungsten was most often found. The name Tungsten itself is actually Swedish and translates into English as “heavy stone.”

The Muonionalusta meteorite was first found in Sweden in 1906 but these pieces were found between 2006-2010. Muonionalusta meteorite is rarely found on the meteorite market. The strewn field is within the Arctic Circle, making the search very difficult. In the past several years hundreds of kilograms have been recovered. Muonionalusta is classified as a fine Octahedrite IVA, Iron Meteorite.

The Gibeon Iron meteorite came from one of the largest iron meteorite finds in Namibia, Africa. This very beautiful and unusual meteorite was first found in 1836, although native inhabitants knew about it before then. Most specimens show flight markings and evidence of a violent atmospheric breakup. Gibeon has a beautiful fine octahedrite pattern when etched and is very resistant to rust because of the tight fitting crystals, lack of inclusions, and high nickel content.

Chrysocolla is a copper oxide mineral with a unique and vibrant blue-green color that offers a perfect complement to the tungsten and iron-nickel.
