History, Science and Mythological Origins of Thor's Hammer:
The Mörigen Arrowhead: In 2023, archaeologists analyzing a Bronze Age arrowhead discovered in Switzerland that dates to around 900 to 800 B.C., determined it was made from an iron meteorite. Trace-element analysis of the arrowhead verified a chemical and isotopic composition that matched the Kaalijärv meteorite from what is now modern Estonia. This shines a new light on an already well established ancient Baltic weapon-maker trade network, connecting the revered source of meteoric iron also known as "thunderstone" which has been historically defined as "iron from the sky" to the Kaalijärv crater and the Kaalijärv iron meteorite.
While clearly a myth, the legendary tale of Thor's Hammer "Mjölnir", is thought to have its origins in the Bronze Age (or earlier) iron weapons made of meteoritic iron or "thunderstone" from the Kaalijärv meteorite which has now been confirmed to have been used for at least one Bronze Age weapon from this region.
