The Wadsworth Ohio meteorite is one of the most beautiful meteorites to ever land on Earth! It has one of the most exceptional glassy fusion crust we’ve ever seen. The March 17th celestial event was widely reported by news agencies throughout the US. Meteorite hunters and scientists traveled from all over the wold to assist in the recovery, analysis, and classification of this rare meteorite.
The Wadsworth meteorite is a friable Achondrite with little to no ferromagnetic metal in its composition. As such, it was not possible to use a metal detector or magnet to search for it. This resulted in very few specimens being recovered relative to the estimated size of the meteor that entered the atmosphere.
The Wadsworth meteorite was analyzed and classified by one of the largest teams of meteoriticists ever assembled for a classification effort, representing the top universities and institutions from around the US. Wadsworth is an HED Eucrite ejected from the asteroid Vesta or one of the smaller V-type Vestoids.
