More thorough analysis of this rare pallasite from Tibet shows phases other than just olivine, including both low and high calcium pyroxenes, two types of chromite, troilite, schreibersite, and the phosphates stanfieldite and farringtonite. Also of note is that the metal in this ungrouped pallasite is more closely related to the IIF iron meteorite group. Stable oxygen isotope analysis plots this ungrouped pallasite outside of both the PMG and ES pallasite parent bodies. * See orange X in lower left corner of the plot below to see where the oxygen isotopes in this ungrouped pallasite plot compared to other pallasites.

Stable Oxygen Isotope Plot:

What you get: 4.83g Gyarub Zangbo meteorite slice as shown, membrane storage/shipping box, and signed Certificate of Authenticity.

We offer a 100% no questions asked 30 day return policy.

SEE OFFICIAL METEORITICAL SOCIETY ENTRY BELOW

Gyarub Zangbo

Status: Official

Basic information

Name: Gyarub Zangbo This is an OFFICIAL meteorite name.
Abbreviation: There is no official abbreviation for this meteorite.
Observed fall: No
Year found: unknown
Country: China
Mass: 17.61 kg

Classification history:

Meteoritical Bulletin, <a href="https://doi.org/10.1111/maps.13918" title="Gattacceca J., McCubbin F.M., Grossman J., Bouvier A., Chabot N.L., D'Orazio M., Goodrich C., Greshake A., Gross J., Komatsu M., Miao B., and Schrader D. The presence of pyroxene in GZ contrasts with its complete absence in either ES or Main Group (PMG) pallasites. Oxygen isotopes for GZ plot along an array between values for the PMG and ES pallasites, but do not appear to overlap with values for any other ungrouped pallasites. Metal in GZ differs from that in IIIAB irons and instead shows affinity with IIF irons. Finally, the Ni content in GZ metal is higher than in metal in the IVB irons, ES, and PMG pallasites, and the Ga-Ge contents separate GZ from the PMG or ES groups.

Bibliography:

Boesenberg J.S., Humayun M., Irving A.J., and Ibarra D.E.
