Writeup from MB 113: Grizim 003 25.00412N, 2.53711W Adrar, Algeria Find: 2022 Classification: Pallasite (Main group) History: Reportedly this material was found in 2022 in Algeria, and acquired by Mohamed Ali Loud in April 2024. Petrography: (K. Metzler, IfP) Subrounded olivine grains with sizes up to ~1 cm, embedded in ~40 vol% iron oxides/hydroxides, which also occur as crosscutting veins in olivine. Only traces of unaltered metal were found, containing ~5 wt.% Ni. Schreibersite grains up to 3 mm occur. Geochemistry: Mineral compositions and geochemistry: Mean olivine composition: Fa13.1±0.2 (Fa12.8-13.3); Fe/Mn (at.): 45.4; n=10. Classification: Pallasite (main group), based on texture, grain size of olivine and olivine composition. |
