The Ohio meteorite is one of the most beautiful meteorites to ever land on Earth! It has one of the most exceptional glassy fusion crust we’ve ever seen. The March 17th celestial event was widely reported by news agencies throughout the US. Meteorite hunters and scientists traveled from all over the wold to assist in the recovery, analysis, and classification of this rare meteorite.
This meteorite is a friable Achondrite with little to no ferromagnetic metal in its composition. As such, it was not possible to use a metal detector or magnet to search for it. This resulted in very few specimens being recovered relative to the estimated size of the meteor that entered the atmosphere.
The meteorite is currently being analyzed and classified by a team of meteoriticists from several universities and institutions. While the analysis and classification have not been completed, the general consensus of the professional meteorite community is that it is an HED Eucrite ejected from the asteroid Vesta or one of the smaller V-type Vestoids. This is supported by the highly glossy black fusion crust typically only found on HED and Martian meteorites.
What you get: 12.38 gram specimen as shown, and signed Certificate of Authenticity.
We offer a 100% no questions asked 30 day return policy.
